You need to show how this relates to the place where you declared x. Maybe post the complete code - or at least show enough to be able to reproduce the problem. You should only really call a function like.cstr if you need to call a legacy C function. In this case atoi is a legacy C function but C has plenty of better options that you could use (actually the legacy C standard library has better options to use other than atoi).
The following program accepts five student names and 4 test scores for each. Then calculates and displays the average and letter grade for each students. Well, that is what it is supposed to do. Judging by the long list of errors I get, it looks like none of my arguments are being successfully passed. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Also, in general, you cannot/should not do this:

The numbers in [ ] need be determined at compile time, or you need to dynamically allocate the array using 'new'.
